Dole Publishing, Inc. is a 100-year old, privately held, publishing company with offices in New York City and
Boston, Massachusetts. Dole Publishing initially started publishing manuals for agriculture and building
trades under the name Workers Publishing Company. In 1940, Workers Publishing changed their name to Dole
Publishing, Inc., and began concentrating on publishing textbooks for universities and colleges. Dole
Publishing is currently the largest and best-known textbook publisher on the East Coast.
Nearly all universities and colleges on the East Coast purchase their textbooks from Dole Publishing,
including Boston University, Montclair State, Tufts, Harvard, Boston College, Princeton, Simmons College,
Florida State, to name just a few.
All areas of study are covered by Dole Publishing, such as Economics, Marketing, Human Resource
Management, Law, Finance, Pre-Med, Statistics, et al. Authors include professionals in the fields of study
and also college and university professors. Dole contracts with approximately 400 faculty members from a
variety of colleges to write textbooks. Many of these faculty members have been writing for Dole for at least
five years.
